Startups get Pro free for 2 months
Switching from Supabase, Appwrite, Firebase, or a backend you run yourself? Apply once and your team gets the complete Pro plan at no cost: enough time to move a real product over and judge Backenly on production traffic, not a demo.
For early-stage teams, bootstrapped through Series A. One pass per company, and every application is read by the founding team.
Startup pass
Pro planRegular price $50 value
for your first 2 months
Normally $25 a month. Nothing to pay while the pass runs.
- Plan
- Pro, with every Pro quota
- Runs for
- 2 months from approval
- Card
- None needed
- Passes
- One per company
When the 2 months end, you choose: stay on Pro at $25 a month, or return to Free and keep your project. Nothing renews without your say.
Everything in Pro, from day one
The pass is the plan paying teams run on, with the same quotas. It is not a trial tier, and nothing is held back.
100,000 monthly active users
Email, password and social sign-in, on per-project user tables.
8 GB Postgres, 100 GB files
Shared by every project on the account, with daily backups kept for 7 days.
Unlimited projects and API requests
No cap on either, and no per-request fee.
5 team seats
For the people building with you, with access set project by project.
3,000 AI credits a month
For the tools where Backenly runs its own model. The typed MCP tools your agent calls never draw credits.
Self-healing every minute
Watches your live backend and repairs what is safe to repair. Never metered.
2M function runs a month
With event triggers, outbound webhooks and custom domains.
Rollback and 30-day logs
Full deployment history, so a change that went wrong can be reversed.
Who can apply
Early-stage teams moving a real product over, or starting one here.
- Bootstrapped, pre-seed, seed or Series A
- A website of your own, and an email address at its domain
- New to the program: one pass per company
- Not already on a paid Backenly plan
How we confirm you are a startup
An email at your domain
We send a six-digit code to your work address, and entering it shows you read that company’s mail. Personal mailboxes such as gmail.com cannot be matched to a company.
A person reads it
Every application gets a decision from the founding team, by email. Nothing is approved automatically.
One pass per company
Every address and subdomain of a company counts as that company, however many people apply.
How it works
Applying takes about two minutes. After that, a person reads it and replies by email.
Apply
Tell us about your startup
Its name and website, its stage, what you run today and what you are building.
Confirm
Enter the code sent to your work email
A six-digit code goes to your address at the startup’s domain. It expires in ten minutes.
Sign in, or create your account
The application is submitted on the account you use, and that account gets the pass. If you are already signed in, this step is skipped.
Review
The founding team decides
We read every application and reply by email. Your projects can start on Free in the meantime.
Build
Pro runs for 2 months
No card needed. We email a reminder a week before the pass ends; then stay on Pro at $25 a month, or return to Free and keep your project.
Moving from another backend
What a move involves, written down before you make one, including when you should stay where you are.
- From SupabaseMoving from SupabaseKeep the client. Change what operates it.
- From FirebaseBackenly vs. FirebaseA document store with a mature mobile SDK ecosystem, against relational Postgres with an operating layer. The data model is the decision that compounds.
- From anything elseChoosing a backend platform, including when not toWhat actually decides it, where Backenly lands on each criterion, and the cases where you should stay on what you have.
Questions before you apply
Anything else, ask the people who run it.
No. Bootstrapped startups can apply, and so can teams at pre-seed, seed or Series A.
It is how we know you work there. Anyone can type a company name and a website; entering a code sent to that company’s mail shows you are part of the team. Personal mailboxes such as gmail.com cannot be matched to a company, so they are not accepted. A subdomain counts either way round: mail at acme.io for a site at app.acme.io, or mail at eu.acme.io for a site at acme.io.
No. Nothing is asked for to start the pass, and nothing is charged while it runs.
We email you a week before. Then you choose: stay on Pro at $25 a month, or return to Free and keep your project. If you do nothing, the account returns to Free. Nothing renews or charges you without your say.
No. There is no migration service, on the pass or on any plan, so the move itself is yours. The pass gives you our help planning it, and 2 months of Pro to make it on real traffic.
There is one pass per company, and every address and subdomain of a company counts as that company. While one application is with the team, a second is turned away until it is decided, and a company that has had a pass cannot get another. Pro includes 5 team seats for the people building with you.
The pass switches Pro on for an account on the Free plan, so it cannot be added to an account that is already on a paid plan.
Your account keeps the Free plan, with one live project, and Pro is there whenever you need more capacity. If the team left a note, it is shown on your application page.
No. The pass is for Backenly Cloud, where we run the infrastructure and handle backups and upgrades. Self-hosting is already free: the platform is open source under Apache-2.0.
